Caladium lindenii is part of the Araceae family and was previously known as Xanathasoma lindenii. It is a herbaceous shrub that grows from tuberous rhizomes, the petiole is either erect or slightly curved and is covered in short hairs. Leaves are saggitate in shape, light to dark green in colour and have white veins.

After their leaves have died back, the dormant tubers will produce new growth the following year. Store dormant tubers in the dark at 15°C, they will remain dormant for around 5 months, from early autumn to early spring, during this time they should only be watered once a month.

Pot: 14cm diameter.

Height: Approximately 30cm from base of pot.

Secrets to success

Temperature: An average temperature of 21˚C.

Light: Bright in-direct light and bright shade.

Watering: Keep potting mix moist until the leaves die back.

Air humidity: High humidity, this can be achieved by placing the plant on a tray of watered pebbles, grouping plants together and using a humidifier.

Fertilising: Only feed during active growth period, every two weeks and half the recommended dosage of your chosen fertiliser.

Potting mix: Use a fertile, moist, but well-draining mix.

This plant is toxic, touching the leaves may also irritate skin. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
