Philodendron 'McColley's Finale' is a stunning and highly sought-after Philodendron hybrid, prized for its large, deeply lobed leaves and vibrant coloration. This Philodendron features elongated, deeply-cut leaves that can reach impressive sizes. The leaves emerge with a bright orange or reddish hue and mature to a deep green with prominent, often contrasting veins. The new growth provides a beautiful contrast against the older foliage. It belongs to the Araceae family.

The genus name Philodendron comes from the Greek words philo (love) and dendron (tree), reflecting the plant's tendency to climb trees in its native habitat. 'McColley's Finale' is named after a plant enthusiast and collector, Joepii McColley, who is credited with its discovery or hybridization.

Light: Philodendron 'McColley's Finale' thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves, while insufficient light may result in less vibrant coloration and slower growth. A spot near a window with filtered light, or a room with ample ambient light, is ideal.

Water: Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly when you do water, ensuring any excess drains away. Overwatering can lead to root rot, while allowing the plant to dry out too much can cause the leaves to wilt and brown.

Potting mix: A well-draining potting mix is essential. A standard houseplant potting mix, amended with perlite or orchid bark to improve drainage, is a good choice. Avoid mixes that retain too much moisture.

Fertilising: Feed your Philodendron 'McColley's Finale' with a diluted balanced liquid fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or stop fertilising during the autumn and winter months.

Temperature: Philodendron 'McColley's Finale' prefers typical room temperatures, roughly between 18-24°C (65-75°F). It is not frost-tolerant and should be protected from cold temperatures. Avoid placing it near draughts or heating/cooling vents.

Humidity: While Philodendron 'McColley's Finale' can tolerate average household humidity, it appreciates slightly higher levels. Using a humidifier or placing the plant on a pebble tray filled with water can be beneficial, especially in drier environments.

Growth Habit: 'McColley's Finale' is a climbing Philodendron that benefits from having a support to climb on, such as a moss pole or trellis. This will encourage larger leaves and more vigorous growth.

Toxicity: Like other Philodendrons, 'McColley's Finale' is toxic if ingested, so it's best to keep it away from pets and small children.
