Dracaena were previously classified as Sansevieria, you may see this plant labelled as Sansevieria ‘Moonshine’.
Dracaena trifasciata are part of the Asparagaceae family and its native range is S. India, Sri Lanka. ‘Moonshine’ is a cultivar; leaves are thick, sword shaped and pointed and mint green, they are arranged in a rosette and emerge from a rhizome beneath the soil.
Genus name comes from the Greek ‘drakaina’ meaning dragon. Specific epithet is Latin, meaning ‘with three bands’.

Light: Bright indirect light, meaning the plant sees the sun for 0-4 hours per day - this could be through trees or a translucent curtain, it’s important for the plant to see the sky in order to thrive. Dracaena can tolerate periods of fairly low light but this means minimal growth and very infrequent watering. Lower light would lead to the leaves darkening.
Water: Allow the potting mix to dry out completely between waterings, aerate the mix with a few pokes of a skewer or blunt stick, pour water slowly over the top and allow the water to pass through the drainage holes. If the leaves appear wrinkled the plant requires a thorough soaking.
Potting mix: A well draining mix composed of coco coir, perlite or vermiculite and horticultural sand. You could also add pine bark to your.
Fertilising: Feed your plant every other watering during the growing season or when you observe active growth. You can dilute fertiliser to half the recommended amount but never add more.
Temperature: 15-30˚C. Dracaena can tolerate short periods of temperatures as low as 10˚C.
Humidity: Average home humidity is fine.
