Anthurium Luxurians x Radicans, often simply referred to as Anthurium Luxurians 'Radicans' or sometimes just Anthurium Radicans (though this can be confusing as there are other plants called just Radicans), is a hybrid aroid prized for its velvety, textured leaves that darken with age. It's a cross between the velvety Anthurium luxurians and the more compact, sometimes vining Anthurium radicans.  It belongs to the Araceae family.

The name "Anthurium" comes from the Greek words "anthos" (flower) and "oura" (tail), referring to the characteristic spadix (the "tail") and spathe (the modified leaf surrounding it) of the flower. "Luxurians" speaks to the lush, vibrant growth, while "radicans" indicates its tendency to develop roots along its stems, allowing it to climb or spread.

Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal.  Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. A spot near a window with filtered light, or a room with ample ambient light, is perfect. Too little light can result in slower growth and less pronounced leaf texture.

Water: Allow the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings.  Water thoroughly until it runs out the drainage holes, then allow the pot to drain completely.  Overwatering is a common problem and can lead to root rot.  This hybrid, inheriting traits from both parents, appreciates consistent but not soggy moisture.

Potting mix: A well-draining potting mix is crucial.  A blend of potting soil, perlite, orchid bark, and sphagnum moss works well.  Avoid mixes that retain too much moisture.  A chunky mix similar to what you would use for orchids or other epiphytic plants is beneficial.

Fertilising: Feed your Anthurium Luxurians x Radicans with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).  Reduce or stop fertilizing during the fall and winter.  Be careful not to over-fertilize, as this can burn the roots.

Temperature: Anthurium Luxurians x Radicans prefers warm temperatures between 65-80°F (18-27°C).  Avoid placing it near drafts or heating/cooling vents.

Humidity:  This Anthurium benefits from higher humidity.  Regularly misting the leaves, using a humidifier, or placing the plant on a pebble tray filled with water can be beneficial.  Lower humidity can lead to crispy leaf edges.

Support: As this plant has Radicans in its parentage, it will appreciate a support to climb on as it matures. A moss pole or trellis can help it grow more vigorously and display its full potential.

Toxicity: Anthuriums are toxic if ingested, so keep it away from pets and small children. The sap can also be irritating to the skin.
