Ceropegia linearis subsp. woodii is part of the Apocynaceae family, its native range is S. Tropical & S. Africa. Leaves opposite, fleshy, ovate-lanceolate or heart-shaped, flowers have a long tube with dark, longitudinal stripes and an inflated globose base. The heart-shaped leaves have cream and pink variegation.

The plant was named by Carl Linnaeus, he described this genus in volume 1 of his Species plantarum (1753), he thought the flowers looked like wax fountains. Genus name is derived from the Greek kērós meaning wax and pēgḗ meaning fountain. Linearis is from the Latin meaning belonging to a line.

Pot size: ø 10.5cm.

Foliage: Approximately 15cm in length

Light: Bright indirect light, meaning the plant sees the sun for 0-4 hours per day - this could be through trees or a translucent curtain, it’s important for the plant to see the sky in order to thrive. Ceropegia linearis subsp. woodii would appreciate 1-2 hours of direct light. If the plant isn’t receiving enough light you will notice larger gaps between the nodes and leaves will have less variegation.

Water: Allow the potting mix to dry out completely between waterings, aerate the mix with a few pokes of a skewer or blunt stick, pour water slowly over the top and allow the water to pass through the drainage holes.

Potting mix: A well draining mix composed of coco coir, perlite or vermiculite and horticultural sand.

Fertilising: Feed your plant every other watering during the growing season or when you observe active growth. You can dilute fertiliser to half the recommended amount but never add more.

Temperature: 16-26°C.

Humidity: Moderate 40-50%.

Ceropegia linearis subsp. woodii are non-toxic.
